About Tableau Server+

Tableau Server+ is our advanced software package to help you explore and manage data faster with Tableau Server. Tableau Server+ includes Tableau Agent in authoring, Premier Success, and expanded deployments (one production environment and up to six additional non-production environments for testing). It also makes it easier to purchase the capabilities needed by organizations that require advanced data and deployment management options.

Tableau Server+ Licensing

As of July 2026, Tableau Server+ is sold in two models:

  • Tableau Server Role-Based Edition

    The role-based edition is sold on a per-User role-based licensing model, including Creators, Explorers, and Viewers. This model is structured around the specific roles within an organization, each requiring different levels of functionality. With Tableau Server+, each role-based license includes Data Management, Advanced Management, and eLearning for Creators and Explorers.

  • Tableau Server Core Edition

    The core edition is capacity-based and sold in 8-core increments, and bundles Advanced Management and Data Management into the license.

Tableau Server+ Feature Table

The following table lists the features that are included with the Tableau Server+ license edition. Feature availability below is noted for Creator. There are differences in available functionality between Creator, Explorer, and Viewer.

Feature Description
Tableau Authoring(Link opens in a new window) Use Tableau Desktop or Tableau web authoring on Tableau Server to create, collaborate, and share insights about your data. Tableau provides you a way to identify and solve problems, or highlight key findings in a visual and easily understandable way.
Tableau Agent in Dashboards(Link opens in a new window) Use Tableau Agent in Dashboards to analyze your dashboards and create a summary overview. Agent can create a summary of insights based on the charts in the dashboard, enabling you to ask questions about your data using natural language.

Tableau Prep(Link opens in a new window) Tableau Prep is a data preparation tool for cleaning, shaping, and combining data for analysis.
eLearning(Link opens in a new window) Role-based training Tableau Learning Paths provide a clear track to proficiency with the most up-to-date Tableau training content. Assessments help you evaluate where you are in your learning path and give you confidence in your new skills. Accelerate the onboarding process for new employees and help more experienced users get the most out of Tableau capabilities.
About Data Management(Link opens in a new window) Data Management is a collection of features and capabilities that helps customers manage Tableau content and data assets in their Tableau Server environment.
About Tableau Advanced Management on Tableau Server Advanced Management is a collection of features and capabilities designed to provide enhanced security, manageability, and scalability for Tableau Server.
Tableau Server Pre-Built Docker Image Take advantage of pre-build Docker images for Tableau Server in a Container. Instead of building an image yourself with the setup tool and the Tableau Server installer, you can download these images directly. (Available only for Server on Linux.)
