Tableau Server
If you are using Active Directory authentication, you should synchronise all Active Directory groups on a regular schedule using the General tab of the Settings page for the server. If you run Tableau Server on Linux, external directory communication is configured and managed with an LDAP identity store. In the context of user and group synchronisation, Tableau Server configured with an LDAP identity store is equivalent to Active Directory. Active Directory synchronisation features in Tableau Server function seamlessly with properly configured LDAP directory solutions (Windows | Linux).
Tableau Cloud
You can automate adding or removing users from Tableau Cloud or adding or removing members from groups using your identity provider (IdP). Tableau Cloud IdP user management uses the System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) standard, which is an open standard for automating the exchange of user identity information. Okta and OneLogin IdPs are currently supported for SCIM. For more information, see Automate User Provisioning and Group Synchronisation through an External Identity Provider.
