Step 5: Set up and Manage Slack and Metric Insight Summaries

Who does this step? Tableau Next Admin, Salesforce Admin, Slack Admin or Slack Org Owner
About this step: While optional, connecting Slack and metric insight summaries lets users share links with previews of Tableau Next metrics in Slack.
Enable Slack Integration for Tableau Next
Why: For sharing dashboards and metrics via Slack.
Note: Connecting Slack to Salesforce requires the Slack Org Owner or Admin to coordinate with the Salesforce Admin.

In Slack: Request a Salesforce connection in Slack

In Salesforce: Approve the request in Salesforce

In Slack: Activate the connection in Slack

In Tableau Next, click Administration, and then click Settings.

On the General page, enable Collaborate with Slack and Tableau Next.

Enable Metric Insight Summaries
Why: Metric Insight Summaries give users insights about Tableau Next metrics that they follow.

Enable Metric Insight Summaries

In Tableau Next, click Administration, and then click Settings.

On the General page, enable Metric Insight Summaries.

Assign users to the TableauFollowMetrics permission set.

From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter
Permission, and select Permission Sets. -
Select TableauFollowMetrics.

Click Manage Assignments.

Click Add Assignments.

Select one or more users by checking the box next to their name.

Click Assign.
