Tableau Enterprise Licensing
As of March 2026, Tableau Enterprise is sold in two models:
Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud Role-Based Edition
The role-based edition is sold on a per-user role-based licensing model, including Creators, Explorers and Viewers. This model is structured around the specific roles within an organisation, each requiring different levels of functionality. With Tableau Enterprise, each role-based licence includes Data Management, Advanced Management and eLearning for Creators and Explorers. Available for Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud.
Tableau Server Core Edition
The core edition is capacity-based and sold in eight core increments, and it bundles Advanced Management and Data Management into the licence. Available only for Tableau Server.
