Tableau Server VizData Native Service

The VizData Native Service is the core service that communicates with VizData Service and manages the published data source connection and session on Tableau Server. The service is internally managed by Tableau Server, and cannot be configured by an administrator. The instances of VizData Native Service are automatically configured on any node that has instances of VizData Service, with a one-to-one mapping.

If the VizData Native Service fails, the process is automatically restarted by Tableau Server within seconds. Any errors or problems are logged in nativeapi_vizdatanativeservice_*.txt.

The control_vizdatanativeservice_node*.log contains information about the services starting and being enabled.

Instances of VizData Native Service are automatically scaled up or down on each node to match the number of instances of VizData Service and managed internally by Tableau. There is nothing an administrator can configure related to the service.

To ensure a healthy publish data source connection, both the VizData Service and the VizData Native Service should run in healthy statuses to serve the requests. By default, both services are added to the nodes that have the Data Server installed after update or clean installation.
