Apache Impala
This article describes how to connect Tableau to open source Apache Impala and set up the data source.
Before you begin
Before you begin, gather this connection information:

Name of the server that hosts the database you want to connect to and the port number

Authentication:
-
None
-
LDAP
-
Integrated (Kerberos)
-
- Username and password depending on the authentication method you choose
- Transport Mode
- Database
- Thrift protocol version
- Are you connecting to an SSL server?
Driver required
This connector requires a driver to talk to the database. If the driver is not installed on your computer, Tableau displays a message in the connection dialog box with a link to the Driver Download(Link opens in a new window) page where you can find driver links and installation instructions.
Make the connection and set up the data source

Start Tableau and under Connect, select Apache Impala. For a complete list of data connections, select More under To a Server. Then do the following:

Enter the Server name and Port.

Select an Authentication method and enter a username and password if prompted.

Select a Transport Mode

(Optional) Enter a database to connect to.

Set Use SSL to True if SSL is required.

(Optional) Specify the SSL Server Cert in full PEM format or provide a local file path to the certificate. If not specified, any certificate trusted by the machine is accepted.

Select a Thrift Protocol Version.

Select Sign In.
Note: If Tableau can't make the connection, verify that your credentials are correct. If you still can't connect, contact your database or network administrator.

On the data source page, do the following:

(Optional) Select the data source name at the top of the page, and then enter a unique data source name.

From the Database drop-down list, select a database.

Under Table, select a table or use the search field to search for a table by name.

Drag a table to the canvas, and then select the sheet tab to start your analysis.
