Step 2: Configure Data Cloud and Enable Tableau Next
As of October 14, 2025, Data Cloud has been rebranded to Data 360. During this transition, you may see references to Data Cloud in our application and documentation. While the name is new, the functionality and content remains unchanged.
Who does this step? Salesforce Admin or users with Tableau Next Admin permission sets.
About this step: Tableau Next uses Data 360 to host and manage all of its data. After it's enabled and configured, both Data 360 and Tableau Next need their permission sets given to users.
Note: This step only configures Data 360, it doesn't add any data. Data is necessary to use Tableau Next and is added later in this guide.
Enable Tableau Next in Salesforce Setup
Why: This step turns on Tableau Next, which is required before you can add Tableau Next permissions, features, and data.
-
In the Quick Find box in Setup, type in
Tableau Nextand then select Tableau Next Setup. -
Turn on Tableau Next.
If Tableau Next is already enabled, it’s possible that someone in your organization has already set up Marketing Performance for Marketing Cloud.
Enable Connectors in Data 360
Why: This step is required to upload CSVs in Tableau Next and connect to external data sources.
-
From Setup, in the Quick Find box, type in and select Data Cloud Setup Home.
-
In the Feature Management section, select Feature Manager.
-
Under Available Features, enable Connectors (Beta).
Assign Data 360 and Tableau Next permission sets to users
Why: Users need both Data 360 and Tableau Next permissions to access data in Tableau Next. The different Tableau Next permission sets map to a required Data 360 permission set and control what users can do in Tableau Next and Data 360. In this step, you’ll assign users both Tableau Next and Data 360 permission sets.
For information about the required licenses for these permission sets, see Tableau Next Permission Sets and Licenses(Link opens in a new window).
