Private Connect for Teradata Vantage Cloud
As of October 14, 2025, Data Cloud has been rebranded to Data 360. During this transition, you may see references to Data Cloud in our application and documentation. While the name is new, the functionality and content remains unchanged.
This topic covers setup information specific to the data provider. General information on setting up a private connection is in Private Connection Set Up: Overview, and information on setting up the Tableau Cloud endpoint is in Private Connection Set Up: Tableau Cloud.
Prerequisites
- You have access to a Teradata Vantage Cloud database.
- You can contact a Teradata admin.
- Your Tableau Cloud site and Teradata Vantage Cloud database are in the same AWS region. For a table that includes Tableau Cloud pods and associated regions, see IP Addresses for Tableau Cloud(Link opens in a new window).
- Your Teradata Cloud admin has performed the steps from the following sections of the Teradata documentation:
- Set Up PrivateLink for AWS(Link opens in a new window) (To get the account number to add to allowlisted accounts, see Tableau Cloud Information for the Data Provider.)
- Create Endpoints for AWS(Link opens in a new window)
Tableau Cloud Information for the Data Provider
To get the IAM ARN that needs to be added as an allowed principal on the endpoint service in AWS:
- Log in to Tableau Cloud Manager (TCM).
- Go to Settings.
- Select the Private Connect tab.
- Expand IAM Regions and ARNs.
- Find the region for your Tableau Cloud site.
- In the Actions menu (...), select Copy IAM ARN.
- Paste the IAM ARN somewhere where you can see all of it (like a text editor).
- Find the account number in the IAM ARN. It's the string of numbers in the middle. For example:
- ARN:
arn:aws:iam::012345678910:role/tab-private-connect - Account number:
012345678910 - Provide the account number to your Teradata admin.
After you have copied Tableau Cloud's IAM ARN, allow it as an allowed principal on the endpoint service per the instructions in Configure an endpoint service(Link opens in a new window).
Data Provider Information for Tableau Cloud
After your Teradata Cloud admin has followed the steps in the Prerequisites section, they can provide you with the endpoint address. Use the endpoint address as the Endpoint Service Name in the Tableau Cloud Create Private Connection dialog.
