Set the Language for Invitation Emails
You can set the default language for site invitation emails, also referred to as welcome notifications, sent to new users when you add them to your Tableau Cloud site or Tableau Cloud Manager (TCM) tenant. Set a single language for invitation email notifications or set a language per user through the Tableau REST API or TCM REST API.
Method 1: Configure site-level default language (Tableau Cloud only)
The site-level Email Language setting gives every site invitation email notifications a predictable language. New invitation email notifications use the default language for any user who doesn't have an individual language configured (all new users). If no default language is set, the user's invitation email notification is sent in English (US).
-
Sign in to Tableau Cloud(Link opens in a new window) as a site admin.
-
From the left navigation pane, go to Settings and scroll to Email Language.
-
From the Language drop-down menu, select the language you want to use for site invitation email notifications.
-
Click Save.
Method 2: Configure language for user
This per-user method lets you configure the language for individual users, such as members of a regional team. If no language is set for the user, the user's invitation email notification is sent in English (US).
Tableau Cloud
As site admin, you can use the Tableau REST API to set the language for a specific user. A language configured this way overrides the site-level Email Language setting for that user's invitation email notification.

Tableau Cloud Manager (TCM)
As a cloud administrator, you can use the TCM REST API to set the language for a specific user on the tenant and site. Setting the language for the TCM user (cloud administrator) sets the language for the tenant-level invitation email notification. Setting the language for a site user also sets the language for the site-level invitation email notification and overrides the default site-level Email language setting that might be set.
